![]() I wonder if Bluetooth is conflicting with the new updated iOS? CarPlay still crashes my phone. Tonight, I noticed that when I paired a Bluetooth earpiece, Apple Music loads again. Perhaps Apple has decided to be more aggressive in forcing its customer base to upgrade our phones along with them. ![]() An update maybe? Have not gotten an answer as to why I was asked for that info. the next day I got a message on my iPad that a new phone was associated with my credentials. I was asked for sensitive info such as serial number and email. I eventually hung up since I just realized he must have thought CarPlay was a game app where you play with automobiles. He clearly did not know what CarPlay was. The rep that called me was Under the impression that CarPlay was an app that could be deleted then reloaded again. I guess I wasn’t specific that I needed someone that could actually help. I left my name and number since they offer callbacks. It appears they employ 3rd party Call centers to answer. Tried their new Twitter service and subjected myself to it. The only thing that helps is to unplug and plug in again. It happens while using CarPlay and since the last iOS update, my iPhone 6plus has started to slow down, so when it auto launches Apple Music, it eats up resources so if the map is going, it gets knocked out as well and then the audio deteriorates to a crackle. By contrast, Spotify now has 75 million active users, 20 million of which pay a monthly subscription fee.I’ve been experiencing the very same problem in a new Chevy except Apple Music keeps Auto loading. But its user metrics are buried toward the bottom: Active listeners grew just 4% year-over-year to 79.4 million last quarter. In its earnings reports, Pandora emphasizes its ability to target locally (a big boon for the 2016 election) and its growth in mobile ads. It has a similar feature to Pandora in that you can start a station based on a song, artist, or genre, and then get Spotify to play similar songs that you can approve or disapprove in order to get better results. Rather, Pandora has steadily grown revenue, forecasting a 25% increase this year. Spotify ( Spotify is a very popular alternative to Pandora. (It has a small subscription business, but advertising is the core focus). Unlike its competitors, Pandora does not offer music on-demand, there’s no emphasis on human-curated playlists or on upgrading users to subscriptions. It has not said how many of those are active users.Īmid all the change and new competition, Pandora has not budged from its focus on a “lean-back experience” of radio stations created by algorithms. iHeartRadio, its streaming service, has more than 70 million registered users. Last year Clear Channel, the terrestrial radio behemoth, renamed itself iHeartMedia to better reflect its move to digital. There’s also competition from the place Pandora would have least expected it: terrestrial radio, which has enjoyed the low royalty fees of zero dollars for their entire existence. More recently, Apple’s streaming offering, Apple Music, snagged 11 million sign-ups within its first week of launching. until 2011, but its revenue has outstripped Pandora’s. Spotify launched three years after Pandora and didn’t come to the U.S. Spotify is now worth $8 billion, more than twice Pandora’s current market valuation. Meanwhile, competition has poured in from all sides. One acquisition of a terrestrial radio station and many impassioned letters Congressional hearings later, and Pandora continues to fight those fights. A Billboard cover story titled “ World War P” outlined the many factious camps out to kill the streaming service. Artists complained they weren’t earning enough on the platform in 2008 Pandora threatened to shut down when the rates charged by SoundExchange, the rights management organization, were set to rise. In the beginning, Pandora had to fight for its right to survive. Perhaps that’s how the company has avoided public spats with music’s preeminent capitalist, Taylor Swift. Ten years later and the music streaming ecosystem has transformed itself, but Pandora hasn’t changed its tune. For starters, there were no connected cars or smartphones connected or smart cone speakers. When Pandora launched in 2005, the world of streaming music was a very difference place. But at the beginning of Pandora’s second decade in business, its executives are likely doing some soul-searching.
